Our Care Team
Pamela Harris
Medical Social Worker/Volunteer Coorinator
Pamela, a dedicated Medical Social Worker at Amari Home Health and Hospice, has a rich background in social work and a profound passion for helping others. Originally from Canada, she moved to Albuquerque, NM, during her childhood following her father's acquisition of a Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour restaurant.
Since beginning her social work career in 1989 as a group home house manager, Pamela has amassed extensive experience and has been a medical social worker since 2016. Her role involves bridging gaps in medical care by connecting patients with community supports and non-pharmacological interventions for grief, anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges. Pamela's approach emphasizes the importance of unconditional active listening, providing comfort and support to patients and their loved ones as they navigate terminal illness.
Pamela's comprehensive assistance includes discussing food programs, transportation, caregiving, POLST, Advanced Directives, safety, insurance, housing, and benefits applications. She is also a small group leader and event host for her church, enjoying life with her husband, three dogs, and a passion for gardening.
Her dedication to hospice care is reflected in her belief that patients often live longer on hospice due to the weekly medical and monthly psychological and spiritual support they receive. Families frequently praise her for being informative, helpful, and kind.
Pamela's commitment to her work was inspired by meeting a social worker in 1986, leading her to pursue a career and ministry in helping people. She feels privileged to work with Amari, where the patient care is unparalleled compared to the nine other agencies she has experienced.
Pamela is honored to serve as a full-time Medical Social Worker at Amari Home Health and Hospice, under the leadership of Melissa, who inspires the team to go the extra mile for their patients.
